Question: How to get state employer tax id number?

Recently I started a small business. Now I am planning to have employees. I have incorporated my business in VA and have obtained Federal tax id number. I realized that I also need to have a state tax id. I have heard that I can obtain it online. I attempted searching for it but did not find any useful links. I did get lots of site that can do it for me for a charge, but what I am looking for is a government website where I can do it myself. Any help is appreciated.

Answer: go back to the Secretary of State's Office. They should be able to provide you with the necessary application or direct you to the appropriate office.
