Question: EIN number and my credit score

Can an EIN negatively effect my own credit score. I use my own social when applying for a EIN with my business partners. We are a LLC and i just want to make sure if we make any bad business/credit related mistakes using the EIN that is doesn’t come back and effect my SSN

Answer: Any information reported under your businesses EIN will have no affect on your personal credit. Credit information is relayed to credit reporting agencies by the specific tax ID number. However, if it is a new business, and you intend to borrow on behalf of the business, most creditors are going to require a personal guarantee from one or all of the owners. This would hold both the business and the individual responsible for the debt. In this case the guarantors credit would be affected by everything relating to that loan.
