Question: I’m baking a cake, from a recipe written in German. What is an “Msp.”?

I am baking a cake, and I have a nice recipe; unfortunately it is in German. I understand the instructions, but I do not know what I ought to do when I come to the part where I have to add “1 Msp. Backpulver”. What is an Msp.; and how much does that mean in metric measures (grams)?

Ich will ein Kuchen backen: und muss ich “ein Msp. Backpulver” benutzen.
Was bedeutet “Msp.”; und wie viel ist es? Leider ist mein Deutsch nicht so gut, deswegen eine Antwort in Englisch gefällt mir. Aber, wenn sie kein English sprechen können, Deutsch ist auch okay…

That would be a “Teelöffel”. In standard German, that word wouldn’t be replaced with “Msp.”…

Answer: Possibly it is “Messerspitze” — but th is not a regular measure but in older times sometimes used.
