Question: how can I verify the EIN on a company i worked for IRS says it doesn’t match with what is on the W2 i have?

my taxes got rejected because the IRS said that one of the employer id numbers doesn’t match i can’t verify with the business being closed and can’t pay to look it up how can i verify the number so the IRS will accept my taxes

Answer: Why not respond to their letter with your own letter? Tell them the company is out of business and you don’t know their real EIN, because you only have the one they gave you on the W2.

What do you mean they rejected your taxes? Did you try to file online, and got rejected? That means you have to send it in the mail. And attach a letter explaining the situation.

Answer: Where are you from?

I am English and it took me 6 weeks to get a UK passport and another 6 weeks to renew it. There is no fast track.

If you are from England or another EU country, 6 weeks. If you are not, longer.

There is nothing to be gained from going in to the office. D/l a form from the internet, get your photos and certifications done and mail it to the office with the fee.
