Employment Tax Penalties

Question: Employment Tax Audit on Closed Business?
i received a forwarded letter from edd to inform me of an employment tax audit on my closed business. My corporation has been closed for several months. EDD wants my former corporation to pay 40k in tax penalties. What are my options? I no longer have this business.
Answer: As an officer and/or majority shareholder of the defunct corporation you are liable for any unpaid taxes. With this much money at stake, you’d be wise to consult with a local CPA or EA, and possibly an attorney.

Small Business Taxes Obama

Question: Who knows the effects of Obama’s tax plan on small businesses better? Obama or small businesses?
Obama’s never run a business. Obama’s not the one running their businesses (yet). Obama’s not the one who’s been looking at how his tax plan is going to effect Joe the Plumber’s specific business.

Sure, the employees will get a big tax cut - no taxes at all since they will loose their jobs!

Small Business Tax Health Care

Question: How is Obama going to get small businesses to provide health care to its workers?
What if they cant afford it? Giving a tax break for something unaffordable is no help.
There are a LOT of people that work for small businesses.
A small business is under 100 employees.
paulcondo: Brilliant answer. You show a real depth of understanding on the issue. Not really…
Answer: By taxing them until the only way they can keep their doors open is to beg the Federal Government for money. Then as a condition of taking that money they will be forced to provide health care to their employees.
