Not For Profit EIN

Question: What should you put down on your resume if you sold on eBay full time for 4 years but didn’t files taxes?

I sold on eBay and had my own website full time from 2001 to 2005. I only filed taxes for 2005 when I made a profit. I did apply for an EIN# with the IRS, but did not file for a state or local business license. I have worked a “normal” job since 2006 and my employers didn’t care about my previous business.

Now I have been offered a chance to apply for a position at a major bank and the lack of taxes filed and a business license can deter them from hiring me.

Should I put down on my resume that I was out of the country — working in Europe/Ireland — instead of stating I did eBay full time? It’s not completely dishonest. I did spend a lot of time in Ireland between 2001 and 2005 and worked when I was younger at my cousin’s restaurant there.

NO SPAM PLEASE.

Answer: Tell the truth, that you sold on ebay for four years and committed tax evasion. Your tax liability is based on personal income, not profitability.
