Research EIN Number

Question: Can you opperate more than one business under a single tax Id number. Do I need an EIN too?
I am starting an e-business and I will need a Tax Id number and I plan on having more than one website. Do I have to have a Tax Id number for each website. When I try to research tax id I see EIN alot. What is the difference?
Answer: That depends on how you list your business when you get the original license. I have listed my business as retail with many products. I have three website all with a different name selling the products I broke up into three businesses, but all listed under the original one. The main one is the parent company over the other two. You just need the one tax ID. But if you are going in a complete different direction with the second I would be safe and add a second license. The Department of revenue locally or online will answer all these questions for you...Good Luck.
