Independent Contractor Tax Rules

Independent Contractor Tax Rules

Question: Should I be classified as a Independent Contractor?

I work for the Kirby company (yes, Kirby vacuum’s) and am considered a independent contractor. We get paid commission from sales but our checks are not taxed. I’ve read in some places that some companies classify employees as IC, when in fact, they are employees under the IRS rules.

So please, tell me your thoughts on this.

Thanks

Answer: Yes, it seems to me that you are an independent contractor...like AVON they are independent sales reps. You have to do your own Taxes. You work for them, but as a contractor...they are giving some of their work to you, and you be your own boss pretty much. They have to mail you a 1099 form at the end of the year, you may want to look into this ok.
Good Luck.
