Question: Business Deductions for Commissions Income?

Can somebody tell me if I can take deductions for business expenses for a job where I only earn commissions? I’m looking at deducting vehicle expenses and didn’t know if this was allowed. If so, could somebody please provide a link to a website, hopefully the IRS website which states this.

Answer: Sounds like you are an independent contractor, i.e., not an actual employee. You can deduct any reasonable and necessary business expense, just like a major corporation. Here is an IRS link with more info
